Io Equivalgo offers a comprehensive tool for locating equivalent medications, utilizing three primary methods of search:

• By active ingredient name or combination of active ingredients
• By brand name
• By scanning the barcode (AIC code) on the packaging

The process for selecting equivalent drugs is guided sequentially by pharmaceutical form, then by dosage and posology. Search results are presented in order of ascending price and are grouped according to different posological units. The interface clearly indicates the patient’s out-of-pocket cost and whether a medical prescription is required. Additionally, brand-name drugs under patent protection are highlighted in red for easy identification.

Access to the search functions requires an internet connection. Data is updated daily and is applicable throughout Italy on a national level.
